I LOVE hypnosis. When people ask me if it is real or not I tell them “ABSOLUTELY, but it is not what you think it is”. We all are hypnotized every day of our lives and we don’t even know it. my definition of hypnosis is simple, it is as follows.
: The ability to plant thoughts in the minds of an adult or child that cause them to do something they normally would not do or to change their thoughts or beliefs about a subject permanently.
This baby rodent in the video above used and ancient example of mind control and hypnosis on me and IT WORKED.
We have stayed here in this little farm-house in VA for the last couple of months spending time with family and friends before we go out in our RV for another year of adventure. It is the only house at the base of a massive mountain and seemed to be a haven for mice looking for warmth. We have fought them all winter.
I hate having a mouse in the house and while I use to try to catch and release I got sick of that and just killed the little buggers. It was a CONSTANT battle all winter and we had a strong HATE for them. They would scare the CRAP out of you when you opened a drawer and one was running around frantically over top of the silver ware “great, now I get to wash all the silver ware AGAIN”. We also had to seal up all the food in containers after one chewed through one of my precious bags of ZEAL FOR LIFE.
But not THIS MOUSE….not on THIS day.
He came walking out to the middle of the floor with his defenses down as if he was asking me for help. Normally I would throw a metal pot at him or something but he hypnotised me. He made me respond in a way that I normally would not.
It was so simple. He simply didn’t fight me and that made me not want to fight him.
The next time an argument brews up with your spouse, friend or family member I want you to think about the lesson of this little mouse. Think of the lesson he gave his little mouse life for (yes, about 2 hours after this video I went to check on him and he was legs up:(
I have always heard the saying “A kind word turns away wrath” and it is actually a Christian bible verse.
KJV – A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
NIV – A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Look on mankind with compassion. If someone is sharp with you just say something nice and watch the anger melt away. You have to mean it and not use sarcasm but if you do it from your heart it REALLY WORKS. remember that if you fight with someone it only makes them want to fight you back. SAY YOU ARE SORRY AND TAKE THE BLAME EVEN IF IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. What does it hurt? Don’t be afraid to take the bullet so to speak.
I have a rule for dealing with the people I love that sounds a little weird but it really works. If an argument is brewing and about to get out of control I think about how I would talk to them in that situation if they only had a few days to live. It always changes my thoughts to compassion instead of anger.
In closing, I heard a spiritual guru talking the other day about the term “Higher Self”. This teaching really improved my way of looking at life so I will share it with you. The higher self is not your spirit but rather a version of you that is at a “higher” vantage point spiritually. If you (your Lower Self) were walking through a valley you could easily walk down the wrong path and make tons of mistakes because you can’t see what is ahead and you are only focused on YOUR needs and desires at that very moment. Your “Lower Self” is based on all the human flaws like greed, lust, fear etc. Your higher self on the other hand is more connected with God and in turn more peaceful, patient and caring. It would be the version of you that is on the mountain top and able to yell to you and tell you which path to take to avoid future problems. If faced with a decision Adri and I have learned to take a moment and meditate a little to clear the clutter in our minds and ask ourselves what our higher selves would do. It is always the solution that is without pride and sometimes the solution that requires humbleness and compassion but it is also the one that leaves us with Peace Like a River!
God bless you,
